Jacqueline Fernandez, a Sri Lankan actor hailing from Bahrain's Manama was raised in an ethnically diverse family. Jacqueline's father Elroy Fernandez hails from Sri Lanka (Sinhalese - Catholic)and her mother Kim is Malaysian. There are two brothers younger than her and one older sister. The reason for this was the war that raged in Lanka that her parents chose to move to Bahrain. In Australia she was enrolled in Media and Communications at University of Sydney after completing her studies in Bahrain. Having a passion for cultures and languages she also was a part of the Berlitz school of languages which is where she began to learn Spanish as well as improve her French and Arabic. Miss Sri Lanka 2006 won Miss Universe 2006 competition in March 2006. She also participated as Miss Universe 2006 also. After her 2006 Miss Sri Lanka win, Padukone made her debut on television as host of a TV show on Sri Lankan businesses called Lanka Business Report. Padukone is the daughter of badminton player Prakash Padukone, was born in Copenhagen and was raised in Bangalore. When she was a teenager she competed in badminton at the national championships, but she ended her career in the sport to pursue a career as a model. Padukone hails from Mangalore and her mother tongue is Konkani. Padukone is located within the Kundapura Taluk of Karnataka's Udupi District. Prakash Padukone is her father and was a badminton player with international recognition. Her mother is a travel agent.
